AI Add-ons To further immersion, there are several different add-ons for AI air and and ground traffic, as well as add-ons to try and get away from that horrible default ATC. Air Traffic - These addons replace the default AI air traffic with actual airlines and realistic schedules.
Each have their own pros and cons and ease of usability. I do not have any real experience with the first two. Payware. Payware. Freeware (woohoo!).

This is my preference and has many aircraft models and liveries to reflect real-world aviation. Only issue is that it was developed for FS9 and so the flight plans must be converted into an FSX-compatible flight plan in order to retain both default and WoAI traffic - otherwise, only WoAI traffic will be displayed (which really isn't a big deal, especially if you typically fly airliners between large airports). Ground Traffic - These addons replace the default ground airport traffic, such as baggage cars, fuel trucks, food/fuel delivery trucks, emergency services vehicles, etc.Developed by FSDreamTeam, it's compatible with all FSDT airports and all FSX airports.
Another add-on by Aerosoft, this does the same as GSX. And, like GSX, it has limited support for select airports. This add-on requires 'credits' that are purchased through Aerosoft to activate airports in AES. Weather Sometimes one of the most over-looked things of flight simulation, current weather simulation is, quite frankly, crappy. That's where third-party weather injection programs come in. REX Essentials - Obviously this needs to be at the top of this list.
REX Essentials is the ultimate weather and environment texture program for FSX and P3D. Not only is it a weather program, it but also replaces environmental textures such as water, runways, 3D/volumentric clouds, and the sky. An ABSOLUTE must-have, even if you don't like the weather it provides (I don't.). REX Essentials also has a free expansion to the program called OverDrive, which adds various HD textures (resolution of 4096x4096) for clouds and water. Website:. FS Global Real Weather - Made by the same guys who make FS Global 2010. I have not used this program.
Website:. OpusFSX - I use this one mainly because it is very lightweight and provides accurate weather depictions from current METAR reports. It also has other features but I don't use them so I can't comment on what they do.
Website:. ActiveSky - Another great weather program with a LOT of potential. Unlike the other weather programs, this one simulates wake turbulence and local weather phenomenon such as hurricanes!
The upcoming release very well might be a game changer and something I definitely look forward to trying. Website: Miscellaneous Add-ons There are many other add-ons to increase immersion and create rewards for flying. FSEconomy - By far my favourite gameplay add-on for FSX. While it doesn't officially support Prepar3d due to Lockheed Martin's EULA, there have been reports that the current FSEconomy clients have worked on P3D. This is an entire community that plays around a simulated economy where users can build up entire FBO networks at airports, and sell and purchase aircraft, property, and commodities such as supplies (which are used by FBOs to stay open), fuel, and building materials (used to construct FBOs at airports). This community does not focus on large-scale airliners, but instead tries to use mainly smaller general aviation aircraft. The best part about this one is it is absolutely free!
Can't go wrong with that. Website:.
REX SimAir/Latitude - Two add-ons from the same developer that, essentially, do the same. Similar to FSEconomy, both add-ons are payware but do not exclude airliners like FSE does. I honestly don't know enough about either add-ons to say much. Website:. FS Passengers - Another payware add-on, this one is similar to FSEconomy in that it adds virtual passengers and you can earn virtual cash to purchase more planes, this one is entirely single-player and has no external community with which you can buy, sell, or trade. What is neat about this add-on is that there are repercussions for poor landings. Website:.
Head Tracking - Whether you decide to use the expensive (my preference) or the free/semi-free options of or, head tracking is truly awesome. No need to pan your camera with your joystick, turn your head naturally!. EzDok - Add more immersion by creating a sense of motion. This add-on adds camera effects to simulate bumps on the ground as well as turbulence. You can also create custom cameras and place them wherever you'd like, with smooth transitions between them!
Website:. Accu-Feel v2 - Another add-on by A2A Simulations, this one adds both visual and audible effects including but not limited to ground bumps, brake squeals, wind sounds, and shaking cabins.
Also adds extremely realistic buffeting due to overspeeding or stalling! Works great with EzDok. Website:. This is the worst of the 3 parts, the level of bias by stating that REX must be at the top - it's a terrible weather depiction, and stating that ActiveSky doesn't include textures - it has since AS2012.
I'm not going to argue about Opus vs AS2012 for depiction, as that gets to be largely a matter of fanboyism once you get to SP2 of AS2012 vs Opus (and SP3 is looking set to be another giant leap for accurate cloud depiction). But a guide for newbies should honestly be free of the kind of bias you've put in this part.
Cracked AES (Airport Enhancement Services) for FS2004/FSX How to install: 1. Deinstall AES from FS scenery.cfg 2. Delete the AES folder (FS9AerosoftAES) 3.
Delete the following registry entries: HKEYLOCALMACHINE SOFTWARE aerosoft cryptic string HKEYLOCALMACHINE SOFTWARE aerosoft AES-Basepack&AirportPack - FS2004 (if it's not removed after deinstallation) HKEYUSERS Looong cryptic string SoftwareVB an VBA Program Settings same cryptic string as above 4. Run the AES 2.05 exe from the download and install it normally. After AEShelp starts u have a fresh install of the product, but without serials. Run the aescrack exe and follow every instruction on screen. After install, it starts AEShelp and this time you have the serials but unfortunately the old 2.04 database. Run the AES 2.05 exe again and after it finishes the install just exit AEShelp. Now you have both AES2.05 and a lot of serials:D Again after few FS starts it will give fault message, but if you run the crack exe then the AES 2.05 exe every time before FS start it will work perfectly. The order is important!
I know this is quite hard but I found no other method to get AES2.05 working. I hope I was clear, please write if you have problem. Note: this method does not work with 2.06 unfortunately.
Happy flights! Attention ladies and gentlemen this is your captain speaking; 1. Right click on the AES help icon on your desktop, a window appears.click on properties 2. Click 'Find Target'. (This will open the AES folder) 3.
Right click on AES0001.DAT, click properties then check 'Read Only', click apply then click 'ok' 4. Right click on AES0002.DAT click properties then check 'Read Only', click apply then click 'ok' 5.
Next, open the 'Scenery' folder in the AES Folder and right click on AESLFFFF0.BGL click properties then check 'Read Only', click apply then click 'ok'.that's it. The error message should not show up again no matter how many times u launch the Sim. When you need to change your AES configuration, or activate airports, just remove the 'Read Only' status from the three (3) files and once you are finished re-apply the 'Read Only' and fly to your hearts delight.Maintain Airspeed. For people not knowing how to delete from registry, you need to open up regedit (search in start) and open it up. It should have a UI like my computer or my documents.
On the left, you have multiple options. Two of these should be HKEYLOCALMACHINE and HKEYUSERS. Open up HKEYLOCALMACHINE. If you are running vista or W7, you need to go to this: HKEYLOCALMACHINE - SOFTWARE - AEROSOFT - Airport Enhancement Systems - delete this folder. There is also a folder name with a load of jibberish (eg: 732fj84fnfnv7n8v78vn3) delete that as well. Then, you go to HKEYUSERS - Jibberish line - VB and VBA program settings OR Software VB and VBA and delete the folder inside (jibberish named folder) then you can install:). @gotbutchi How have you managed to install this?
I find it difficult as I'm a new pirate. BTW I have FSX. 'Deinstall AES from FS scenery.cfg Wait a sec, what should I 'deinstall'?
Am I not suppose to download it? Or should I install the trial (with the 10 credits) first? And will it work if I install the 2.09 version? Again, not sure why am I suppose to even have this folder.
The rest of the steps are pretty clear, but not the first ones. I'll be glad if someone helps, sorry for my ignorance.
